Σμηλές (Smilés) is one of the 13 villages that were attacked and destroyed by the German occupying army on August 22nd 1944. This event became known as the “Kedros Massacre”. But there is so much more to the village than this horrible episode in its existence. That’s what we’re going to do in this episode of “Gems of Crete”.
